Staff and students in the Department of Nursing are supporting the local Hyde Patient Participation Group initiative Health Pledge 2015. The group including Jacqui Gladwin the programme lead from MMU launched the concept on Saturday at the Clarendon Centre in Hyde. The launch event was attended by the local Mayor and Sir John Oldham. Patients and staff from the Thornley House Medical Centre also attended the launch and the Tameside Voices Choir provided a rousing performance to get everything started. Health Pledge 2015 is designed to encourage people to think about the small but positive steps they can take to improve their health. Even small changes can make a considerable difference imagine how many calories you would save if you switched your fizzy drinks to water and taking the stairs instead of the lift can quickly improve your overall standard of fitness.
The Department is proud to support the work of Thornley House Patient Participation Group and we hope it will be the start of a much bigger collaboration. To get involved and make a pledge go to : http://www.healthpledge.co.uk
